The works phase is particularly complex and sensitive when it comes to safeguarding cultural heritage. Archaeological traces that had previously been undetected (owing to their specific traits) have very often been found in the subsoil during earthworks for construction of infrastructures.

In order to ensure timely handling of any finds that can only be detected during earthworks, EDIA complies with the measures set out in the different environmental impact statements and also uses work methods that go beyond strict compliance with legal requirements.

The aim is for there to be strict control mechanisms to avoid any impacts on cultural heritage. when this is not possible, appropriate minimisation measures are taken (archaeological digs, surveys records).

EDIA has cultural heritage specialists on its own staff and in the contractors’ and inspection teams in the field.
